How an OCI round trip works
Open a supplier catalogue with SAP Open Catalog Interface fields, the way SAP SRM or S/4HANA would, and check the NEW_ITEM cart that comes back.
- Catalogue call. SAP opens the supplier's URL in the browser with login fields, a cart return URL (
HOOK_URL) and control fields such as~OkCodeand~TARGET. - Shopping. The user shops in the supplier's catalogue.
- Cart return. At checkout the catalogue posts the cart to
HOOK_URLas form fields:NEW_ITEM-DESCRIPTION[1],NEW_ITEM-QUANTITY[1],NEW_ITEM-PRICE[1]and so on, one index per line.
Unlike cXML there is no server-to-server setup step, so the whole exchange runs in the browser. Purchase orders for OCI catalogues usually reach the supplier separately (EDI, email or cXML).
